I have been stuck at home due to a 9 month pregnant wife, so over the past week or so I have been trying to improve and modify my kits in general. One that I am very happy with is my dinky stuff kit (AKA sundries kit, comfort kit, health and safety kit, etc.):

Small towel, 60g
Tissues, 11g
Plastic string (about 10m), 5g
Biodegradable soap in a 5ml container, 18g
Insect repellent in a 5ml container, 18g
Travel toothbrush, 13g
Toothpaste, 20g
Pen with duct tape, 10g
Small candle, 10g
Paper, 5g
Matches, 10g
Nylon string with whistle and LED flashlight, 30g
Spare batteries, 5g
Compass, 13g
Lip balm, 14g
Ziplock bag, 10g

Total = 252g or about 8.9oz

Over the past half year or so, I have been able to literally cut the weight of this kit in half. I know, I know–my towel is heavy. I opt for a "larger" of the small towels because I often swim and bandannas just don't cut it for me to get fully dry, and of course it also doubles in my mess kit as a pot holder.

How about you guys, what does your dinky kit look like?

Thanks for the lists guys, interesting to see how different dinky kits are, but how most have a lot of the same basics covered.

Ryan, what is your total weight for your kit? Oh, and you can hide your car keys at the trailhead, or take just your car key and leave the rest in your car, btw.

Dale, reading your list reminded me of a few details. One is that I forgot to note that my lip balm is also my sunscreen (SPF 30). Here in Sweden, however, I don't use it all that much other than on my lips and sometimes on my nose and under my eyes.

I should have also noted why I carry no water treatment, which is because I either (safely) drink it without any treatment (Swedish water is very clean). If I feel the need to treat it, I boil it, as I cook over an open campfire about 90% of the time.

I love space blankets! I will throw one in my bag at the last minute if I think the temperature is going to drop and use it as a cover for my sleeping bag, and my two MYOG ground covers are both made space blanket. One is for warmer weather and is a garbage bag taped to a space blanket (85g), the other is for colder weather and is a thick plastic tarp with space blanket taped on it (215g).

I keep my FAK separate from my dinky kit. It clocks in at 99g or about 3.5oz. Here is a picture of it all laid out: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jb_ryllQKBM/TjUhTzA0EjI/AAAAAAAAAW0/tK7195kCzbE/s1600/SUL+3.JPG

Mike, nice kits for a total of 295g or 10.4oz. If I include the Mora I usually take with me which is 143g, total for me would be 395g, 100g more than yours. I gotta google that knife of yours. However if the weather is too cold to swim, I will ditch my "big" towel and go for a trimmed one I have for half the weight, plus ditch the bug oil since not many bugs in colder weather, so that is about 48g of savings.

I find I always learn a little something or appreciate another perspective when looking at other kits, thanks guys :)
