I have a Duomid that I use in the winter and like but on some trips I prefer to make it the cooking shelter and use a real tent. Problem is, my "real" tent is a bit heavy for solo use (Hilleberg Jannu). I was looking for input on a light tent that could be used for mountaineering in moderate conditions. The Exped Vela 1 has caught my eye, as well as the eerily similar and tried and true Hilleberg Akto. The Tarptent Moment with a clip in liner falls into this same category of this type of tent (single transverse pole design). Alternatively there are the ID MK1, Black Diamond First Light, Rab Summit "bivy", ID Wedge. Just looking for something for one person, sub four pounds, that can weather a moderate winter storm (Utah mountains).
Exped Vela: 3lbs. 8oz.
Hilleberg Akto: 3lbs. 8 oz.
Tarptent Moment: 2lbs. 2 oz. w/clip in liner.
ID MK1: 3lbs. 12 oz.
ID Wedge: 3lbs. 9 oz. w/vestibule
Black Diamond Firstlight: 4lbs. w/vestibule
Rab Superlight bivy: 3lbs. 8oz. w/o vestibule.
