Belt for Patagonia Rock Guides

I just got back from a multi day hike. I forgot my belt (trip was away from home). I went to an rei and picked up some webbing and a dual adjust whistle buckle. Works great. I had to go dual adjust as I didn't have a way to stitch it where I was but you can go single adjust if you have a way to stitch one side. Light and very cheap

Properly sized pants… am able to get away without a belt.

Anyway, there's really thin webbing out there, so just make your own and remove the best buckle you can find off an existing belt. My favorite is a plastic clip belt buckle with a magnet fastener. Low profile and the magnet means it'll never wear out.

You can also use some twine/string and a cordlock as a belt (positioning the cordlock anywhere you want), or even just tie it.

I agree that most webbing belts are overkill and use heavy/bulky webbing.

I use a Bison Designs Carbonator on pretty much all my hikes and anytime I want to wear a belt without an undershirt. Reason being that I'm allergic to the nickel belt buckles used in nearly all belts, so titanium or carbon was the way to go (funny how that well that jives w/ lightweight backpacking…). I like the belt quite a bit – relatively light (66.2g on my scale), durable nylon webbing, simple design, airport friendly (you do not need to remove it to get through security), works. What more could I ask for?
