Hello all!

We are looking to sew a backpack for my petite girlfriend and ran across Rodney Liwanag's excellent instructions:

They seem to lack a materials list though. I could draw all the cuts out, but I am afraid of ending up short. Does anyone have a materials list? Or has made it, and has some input? Or even a suggestion for a different pattern, we aren't stuck with this one.

Thank you!

Many people will probably suggest the following article

http://www.backpackinglight.com/cgi-bin/backpackinglight/make_your_own_gear_5_yards_to_sul_part_1.html

It's 4 parts and shows you how to make a stuff sack, tarp, and backpack using 5 yards of fabric. At the very least it has a decent section of recommended materials. It's a bit outdated. Spinnaker is virtually impossible to find any more. I'd replace the 5yds of Spinnaker with either silnylon (probably easiest and best value solution) or a cuben fiber variant (of which there are a plethora to choose from based off your needs such as lightest weight or best abrasion resistance, etc).

Edit, the pack in this article is 1700 cu. in. which is comparable to the LAB pack.
