Wondering if anyone has any good options for shirts, both short and long sleeve that wont stink to much after a few days of wearing. Right now I wear some underarmour stuff that starts to reek after a few days.

Thx!

I second merino wool. Since I bought my first shirt early last fall (a stoic l/s off of SAC.com) I've rapidly picked up a few more (two short sleeves and a l/s hoody). Most of them I bought this summer and I can't wait till it cools down a bit. Living in AZ desert, I say the merino is good to 80-85F depending on your heat tolerance, above that it's just too warm compared to cotton or synthetics if sized to fit trim/tight.

If you want a synthetic for warmer temps I love my Arc'Teryx Phase SL. It's very lightweight, feels durable enough. It has silver ions that do a decent job of keeping the smell at bay (not as good as wool though) but it may also cause cancer. I'm pretty much of the belief that if you live in any city you're already exposed to so many carcinogens just in the air/food/water you ingest that clothing is the least of my concerns.

Basically if you want odor control you'll have to pay for it, which is still a major selling point for the cheap synths that will stink even after a thorough washing =/

+1 on merino wool. I've worn the same light wool shirt for over a week of warm weather hiking with no odor (in the shirt, anyway.) When I wear synthetics, they start to stink as soon as I put them on.

150-wt Icebreaker is my favorite. Not cheap, and be careful not to put your fingers right through the material when putting it on, but well worth it for me.

I/O Bio Merino's 160 weight hits the sweet spot for me. IMO, more comfortable than Icebreaker or Smartwool of similar weight, and it "feels" much more durable than the 150 weight stuff. I'd say my I/O feels more durable than my Icebreaker 200 garments, too.

Stoic (Backcountry.com's house brand) merino can be found for cheap, and the products compete well within the market.
