I now use "Velcro Plant ties" for all my equipment straps. It comes in a 25' roll and is 1/2" wide. The 25' roll weighs only 54g so that's 2.16g per foot. Get it in the gardening section of a hardware store. I use it in place of buckle straps, bungy cords, stuff bags, etc. Just cut off a piece and wrap it around your sleeping pad or tent. It can be used multiple times until it gets too dirty to stick to itself.

I found a product video for anybody wanting more detail: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmoDrp0poqg.
