Hey. I just stumbled across this company that makes a chlorine based water treatment tablet for 2 and 5 gal. at a time.

http://www.rediclean.com/about%20redi%20chlor.htm

I’ve found it for about $10 for 50 tablets (2gal. each = 100gal). This stuff is blister packed and ready to go. Shelf life is 1 year.

So has anyone used this stuff or know anything about it? I’m tempted to try it.

Hi Mark,

Without their actually telling us what the product is, it appears from the description to be sodium hypochlorite–common household bleach.

If so, it’s going to be less effective against a broad spectrum of contaminants than chlorine dioxide or even iodine treatment (I note they suggest combining it with filtration). If it’s a chlorine dioxide product, I’d expect them to state as much.

Would have to read the labeling to know for sure. Have you seen this product in a store?

p.s. Accidently hit “edit” instead of “reply” the first go ’round. Not enough coffee yet!

I searched for any more info, but I didn’t find much. The Redi Chlor product has been aquired by Seychelle filters company for use with their filter line. So it looks like you may be right, Rick.
If I locate any info that this is a chlorine dioxide product I will post it.
