These mitts were designed to be used for ocassional rain and light snow protection in temps above 25 degrees. (Think: Typical Thru-Hike) Great for cutting the chill during early morning starts or to boost comfort while sleeping. To protect the eVENT membrane a second layer of eVENT fabric is used membrane to membrane in the palm and thumb face area. The rest of the Mitt is single layer. The construction is simple, using a non-taped seam along the inside perimeter. Only the one high wear seam across the palm is taped inside. User seam sealing is recommended. For the extreme light weight trade off, we feel the life span will equal reasonable value, but don’t expect them to be as bomber as a 4oz mitt or to replace your primary all day every day cold weather ski glove!
