Hey, guys. I just finished up a little cuben tarp for myself and thought I'd share the details. I've been using a spinn twinn previously, but wanted the versatility of a flat tarp, plus cutting some grams and pack space was nice too.
I more or less followed the videos Steve put up here: http://www.suluk46.com/RandD%20-%20RD7%20Cuben%20Fiber%20Tarp.html
I made some small changes to his plan and sewed on 12 tie out points instead of 8 and used CT2K.08 the .75oz stuff instead of the .33oz stuff he used. I used the same dimensions he gave. The only changed I'd make if I did it again would be to double the size of the reinforcements. I think it will work for me, but I'd feel more confident if they were larger as the weight penalty would be small enough. I know he was going for sub 2 oz for his tarp so it makes sense for his application. I'm still happy with it and think it will hold up.
I played around with it in the back yard a bit today and have to admit I'm really pleased with having the options you get with a flat tarp compared to the cat cut tarp I've been using.
