Okay my fellow gear heads, who makes the lightest hyration pack? My first inclination is something a drawstring pack or along the lines of REI Flash or Marmot Kompressor packs, but what else is out there? Something that would hold a 2 liter bladder and some survival essentials is what I have in mind.

I saw the 6-ounce Salomon RR10 ST pack at REI and it’s pretty featherweight for a Camelbak-style pack. Doesn’t carry much but I’m considering one for 2-3 hour hikes/trail runs in the local hills.

The LuxuryLite SakPak was what I had in mind when I mentioned drawstring packs. I had bought one when they first came out and have finally realized that I should include it my kit as my food/bear bag for normal use and it can be available for a bug-out bag or for day hikes.

Yeah! That’s what I had in mind. Thanks, Nathan.

Update: if you search on the Salomon hydration packs, try Salomon Raid Revo rather than RR10. They make a number of different models and the Raid Revo 15 is nearly twice the volume for the RR10 for just another 2oz. weight (8oz total) and several vendors had a better price on the bigger pack (???). I am suspect of the weights listed– can’t wait to get my hands on one. Looks like they are around $60.
