The new ,2010, version of the rainbow has a few updates compared to the older 2008. One is a taller floor for better wind and rain protection. Is it possible to sow in a strip of lightweight ripstop at the base over the netting to stop some of the draft. Like the Inner Net of the mountain laurel design Cricket.

I think this would be possible but you need to make sure that there is some airflow or condensation would become a problem. You would probably want to Velcro this on so you could leave it behind when you wouldn't need it. The total weight might end up being close to simply adding a bivy though.
try first pitching the Rainbow low.
Something like this :
you can drop it further down at one end by pulling the fabric down more on that end than the other (I did not do that in the picture) and or by digging a hole under the pole end.
see also the start of the DR video :
BTW, you only get wind chill by a direct hit. So a strategically placed backpack can also help.

Thank you for the reply's.
I had not thought about digging a hole. I will try that first.
As a flexible windscreen would indeed be pretty heavy.
But this summer I am going to the alps were it's not always
possible to get a more secure setup.
Does the mld cricket not have a problem with condensation because
of his more open structure?
And a trailstar in a more closed setup with the innernet of the cricket
would that also be more prone to condensation?
