Jan 4, 2012 at 3:19 pm #1819826Being a BPLite from MN I wanted to post a couple things about SPAM from the birthplace of spam.
Spam is from austin MN and is actually a superior cut of meat to ham. The problem is it doesn't come in nice slices like ham does because it is from the shoulder of the dear beautiful pig.
IT looks all "NASTY!!!" Because it is cooked in the can (as are most all canned foods) and the gelatin renders out. But I do believe this provides a coating against drying out.
I think spam is pretty great and if you have never tried SPAM musubi, it is a must try in my opinion and could easily be made on trail.
