I'm looking for a UL headlamp to replace my heavy Petzl Myo XP. I tend to hike at night too, so I am looking for something that would be capable of this. Also long battery life :)

You want to decide how much light intensity you want or need. I find headlamps more useful than flashlights. However, the head strap can get to be a heavy component. You also want to decide which battery type is your preference, and that is typically the same one used in any other electric devices you have along. Also, you want to decide whether you prefer a beam or a flood pattern for light.

Just a couple of months ago, I went through this same decision here. I ended up with one of the Zebralights. Then I removed its nice heavy head strap and used an old Croakies strap sewn in place.

I settled on a Princeton Tec Scout. Runs on 4 lithium coin batteries so carrying spares is not even noticed. It has 3 brightness and 2 strobe settings. Not bad for a tiny headlamp.

I have a Petzl Tikka XP first generation that I am willing to sell if its something you are interested in. Its the perfect combination of wide and focused beam. It has a boost mode and three power settings and strobe setting. Full review can be found here http://www.flashlightreviews.com/reviews/petzl_tikka_xp.htm . Weight is 3.4oz with batteries. PM me if you are interested.
