I like to do trail maintenance whenever I go backpacking in the Los Padres National Forest, my “playground”.

I carry a pair of lightweight loppers and a folding saw. They come in handy when I have some difficult brush sections to pass through.

I am looking for some gloves with a multiuse feature: Durable to handle chaparral AND/OR warm my cold hands.

Any product recommendations or thoughts would be appreciated….

Paul, I would suggest some Atlas or Viking gloves that have a thermal lining. They are very inexpensive compared to “outdoor gloves”, the palm side is coated with a durable coating, and the top side is uncoated fabric for breathability. They also make Nitrile-coated gloves, which are very light and durable but not very warm. You can get them at garden stores, hardware stores, home centers, or online.

Kudos to you for taking the time to “give back” by doing some trail maintenance. I wish more people would do that instead of just “taking” all the time.
