I have been corresponding recently with the folks at Adventure Medical Kits who publish the excellent “A Comprehensive Guide to Wilderness & Travel Medicine” by Eric Weiss, M.D. My question to them is if they are considering an electronic version suitable for use on a PDA, cell phone, or MP3 player. They said they were considering some kind of electronic or digital product maybe next spring. Their question to me was :
Is there a market for a digital version of a 1st aid book like theirs? (To be fair, their’s is far more than a simple 1st aid book)
I know that more and more folks are taking electronic gear into the backcountry including all of the aforementioned items as well as GPS units and walkie talkies. Solar chargers make the power issue more workable. Some of these devices will let you store topos, novels, star and tide charts and other useful info. So I was encouraging them to come up with a digital version of their book.
What does this forum think? Would it be useful. What format, plain text or hyperlinked? What should it cost? Any other ideas.
( Oh for the record, the book weighs 5.2 oz. as does my Palm Zire 31 )
