Hi,
Just picked up meindl borneo pro. they're from nubuck leather.

The shoe guy gave me sno-seal for them. After reading online, some suggest sno seal and some don't. The meindl website suggests their sportswax which is beeswax, just like sno-seal.

What do you guys use on your meindl boots?

nothing?!

I also need to get some socks since I don't have any thick ones. Will wool be ok? I don't feel like bombing 20 euros on one pair of socks. Will a sock liner be necessary?

I don't have Meindls, but on my Pivetta 8s and Whites I use Obenaufs LP on the outside. On the odd occasion I have to put something on the inside, I use Montana Pitch Blend very sparingly. After trying sno-seal, the nixwax offerings, and a couple general-purpose automotive greases, I have found this combination "works better" than all else…

If you're set on getting value for your $20 per pair, look at Darn Tough socks. They're really good socks. Otherwise, find someone with a Sam's Club membership and get a 3-pack of "omni-wool" mid-weight merino hiking socks for like $15. They're just as good as smartwool, methinks.

I've the Island pro and use the meindl brand wax on mine.
Works great, I picked mine up on ebay quite cheaply.
