Has anyone tried this pack pattern?

I had the same problem with my G4. It works great in the winter when I need my warmer quilt and better sleeping pad, but now during the summer, I can't even fill up half of it.

I haven't used the pattern you found, but it seems like it is fine. I can't speak to the size of the finished product, but it looks like it was a good find. I'll be saving it and may try it later.

For me, I just changed around the G4 pattern and made the sizes a bit smaller, as well as changed the way the bottom was formed to make shrinking the sizes easier.

That pack was based on Jay Ham's article 5 Yards to SUL. His article described a stuff sack, tarp and pack. There are detailed instructions with pictures regarding the pack construction in Part 4, Pack.

Changes were made in the materials used, pocket size and design. A roll down type closure similar to a dry bag was used in place of the drawstring closure.

The pattern on Lance's website should work for you since it is similar to Jay's pack and mine.

I’ve added a tiled version of my pack pattern so it can be printed on 8.5″ x 11″ paper. Thirty pages with row/column numbers and crop marks.
