If you are 25 yrs or younger, the closed cell pad will probably be fine and costs a fraction of the fancy pads. I wish I could still get by with just the closed cell foam. I now sleep on a fancy pad because I like to feel good when I wake up. I like the neoair because it has a 25" width size that suits my sleeping needs better.

May 11 on wednesday I sent my 4? yr old NON ul synmat in cause I could not find a slow leak (I had to give a few puffs twice a night to keep it up) Wed may 18 they E-mailed me and told me there was a delamination problem that the pad was not repairable. They were out of stock till mid to late june but would give me a downmat or a synmat basic if i did not want to wait. I said how bout a synmat ul he said no problem. I had my mind set that I would most likely put it up for sale after recieving it as I thought that at this light it would be cheesy and I didnt like the idea of the new style inflation valves. Today wed may 25 Fed ex came a couple hours ago got my new mat Hey I like it and I like the valves its not cheesy at all. Just woke up from my unplanned nap. This is every bit as comfy as my old syn mat if not more, is 1/2 the weight 16.4oz on my scale 2 tenths over specs (very close). Im sure its not as warm but its not going anywhere. And I would have to say thats as good as it gets when you talk customer service. 2 weeks from my post office back to my door step Very nice pads top notch service.

I found the warranty info from their website:

"What is the warranty for Exped products?

Exped UL sleeping mats carry a 2 year limited warranty. All other products carry a 5 year warranty on defects in materials and workmanship. At our discretion, Exped will repair or replace any part that fails due to a manufacturing defect. Failures due to normal wear, negligence, and acts of nature can usually be repaired for a nominal charge."

So you had a defect therefore 5 years warranty but you did not show them your receipt. You could have been past the 5 years. I guess that they are not very picky. They take responsibility if something is wrong no matter what the time frame is.

I could not find the leak even in a large tub of water so I did not know if it was a small hole or what. The rep just said send it in and they would patch it or replace it for me he just said that they wanted a happy customer
