Can anyone with personal experience with both comment on their performance-especially with precip?
thanks!

Hi Bryan
I have been using The Montane Featherlite for around 8 months now and I am so impressed that with it that most of my (non hillwalking) family have bought one too. Over a 100 weight fleece, its as good as Windstopper. It keeps drizzle at bay if there is a breeze, but I wouldn’t use it in rain for more that a few minutes. In summer here in (very wet) Wales, I’ll take it if the weather is fine and don’t really expect rain, but it would not be a disaster to be caught out in a shower.
This is the best thing I have purchased for many years!

My featherlite wets out pretty quick, but dries almost as fast. Windproof as windproof can be.

It can be stuffed in a shorts pocket and you hardly notice it. The neck zipper seals up tight and the elastic cuff seals good as well.

I have done some 3rd class scrambling in CO and it has held up to some minor abrasions very well.

I love my featherlite. Perfect for hiking down to mid thirties with medium weight smartwool baselayer. At that point I add another merino baselayer. It is so light, comfortable, very breathable and protectivel. I have no worries about durablility. Pack to size of a baseball.

It is NOT a rain jacket. It wets out quickly (and drys quickly). I go for the poncho immediately in rain. But that's fine with me. I don't want it to resist rain; I can't stand any "waterproof/breathable" jacket because none of them are breathable enough for me (read: sweat-hog) while hiking (I can flap the poncho around to ventilate).
