Fabric for rain pants in the UK

How much weight (grams per square meter) are you willing to carry. I did obtain one of the waterproof breathables from the UK, and it tested very waterproof by Roger Caffin; but it was on the heavy side. Please post your minimum acceptable weight, and if the above fabric meets it, I will dig up the details and post them.

Fabrics-n-stuff some times have a few decent bits an peices on offer. Cheap as well if uiu want to have a test with some fabric.

I'm not exactly sure what my limit is. I'm going to be hiking in the Dolomites–last year it rained once, but we all wished we had brought rain pants. That being said, SUL is not essential–I'm looking for good performance as well.

I'm pretty new to MYOG so all these fabrics are somewhat overwhelming–not sure where to start.

Perhaps this is a good choice?

The material I mentioned was from Profabrics, and is 2.3 oz per sq. yd. Roger found that with the fabric face to the water, it stayed dry to 60 kPa, or around 6000mm HH, which is very water resistant, especially for a fabric represented as waterproof breathable. It is a light greenish blue with an odd pattern in the weave, and a white inner coat. If you want, I can look through my old bills, find the stock no. or other ID, and see if they still have it on their site. But that would take quite a bit of time.
