just a fun, fill in the blank question. feel free to elaborate on your answers if desired.

"Because I've gotten my pack weight so low, it allows me to carry more ______"

for me, the blank is BEER… with so many new brewers putting their art both on and in cans, its hard to justify not carrying a few cold ones in to camp, since my pack is pretty light anyway. Sometimes, i'll bring a large lexan coffee press.

What about you?

Sorry that that's an adjective rather than a noun, but I do some semi-urban backpack travel that often involves stealthing… wearing a smallish traditional backpacking setup used to get me questioned by police. Where are you from, where are you staying, etc. (as if you're legally required to have a pre-arranged location for sleeping every night…). With UL/SUL techniques I'm just another guy with a bookbag when I want to be. This type of travel also often involves a small laptop, so that's an extra item too.

Also, if I go by a great used book store with a 25-cent rack I can afford, weight-wise, to load up on a few paperbacks whereas previously I would have skipped them.

Nice one Doug…thank god you did not pull that out when you were here in Feb……I would have ran back to my car!

My load lightening was specifically so I could carry more stuff for my family (2 small kids) for further and longer. So while my base weight has gotten lighter, my overall load has remained much the same as we extend range.

family backpacks are the best. keep it up, they will cherish it forever.
