Well, we've finally arrived at the point where elite ultra runners have become interested in the unofficial speed records of obscure and not so obscure trails.
Last year it was Killian Jornet on the Tahoe Rim Trail.
This week it was the ladies turn at the Grand Canyon.
April 19, Krissy Moehl and Devon Crosby-Helms ran together to break the women's speed record for a "Double Crossing" ( R2R2R ) of the Grand Canyon.
Official time : 9hrs, 12 min, 29 secTheir celebration was short lived however.
April 23, Darcy Africa, another female elite ultra runner broke their record by posting 8hrs, 25min.
trail records are no longer the exclusive domain of obscure weirdos, (although some would consider all ultra runners weirdos).
