This web site has a lot of good ideas, not all are light weight, but still good info.
I like the idea that it is cheap, easy to obtain, and pretty light weight. Total cost was around $3.50 Total weigth on my scale is 2.8 oz.
This is in lantern mode for outside on top of a table.
Here it is in tent mode, turn it upside down so the light is reflected down, I still have to make some way to hang it from my tent. I use the cup to defuse the light, it works really well
Here's all the components.
This is just a solar powered landscape light that I took off the globe and stem. This will burn for 8 hrs on a full charge, put it on top of your pack while you hike, and when you reach camp it should be ready to go, take the cup off first, and you must have sun for it to charge. If you don't want any more light, simply put a piece of paper between the positive contact on the battery, and the lamp. This light puts out 1.5 lumens if I remember, doesn't sound that bright, but it will light up the inside of your tent fairly well. Thanks, and enjoy making one yourself.
