Anyone know of a site that compares the insulating values of jackets? I see all of these great choices for lightweight insulation: montbell UL inner jacket, micropuff, cocoon, etc. I currently have a TNF Flash jacket and I am wondering if I can get something lighter that has the same or greater insulating value. When I shop for sleeping bags I can look at temperature ratings to compare warmth. Does anyone know of a way I can compare jackets?

Den-This site has excellent reviews of all lightweight jackets. They specify the loft as opposed to a temperature rating. No other site, that I am aware of, provides this valuable information. The warmth is directly proportional to the loft for the same insulation type. High fill down is a much better insulator than any synthetic if you keep it dry. Measure your jackets current loft / features and then compare them to the down jackets in this site’s reviews. The first better alternative to your jacket, that comes to mind immediatley, is the Nunatak Skaha Plus but there are others.
TNF Flash is 900 fill goose down, no hood, 25 D 1.06 oz/sq yd ripstop nylon shell, sewn through baffling, weighs 12.4 oz size med., and double layer loft ?(measured by you)
vs
Nunatak Skaha Plus is high fill goose down, hood, 0.85 oz/yd2 (29 g/m2) rip stop nylon shell, non sewn through baffling, weighs 9.6 oz size med., and double layer loft of 4.1”.
As a result of both the Skaha Plus’s hood and the increased loft, this jacket will be significantly warmer than your TNF Flash and the loft ratio will define significant for you.
