Does anyone have experience with using both versions if so what is your preference? It's really tempting to get the one on in the bargain bin for $90 plus its 7oz's apposed to 8oz for the $120 new model.

SMD Serenity or Serenity 2011?

No one (except SMD themselves) has any experience with the 2011 Serenity because according to the SMD website, "Item is out of stock. It should be available after: 04/25/2011."
That said, I'm 5'9" and fit the original model fine. I suspect that if you sleep on one of the thick 2.5 inch pads, the extra end height of the 2011 version would be an advantage. Otherwise, jump on the $90 sale. Just don't expect to be able to fit your pack inside the net tent with you – it's just you and your sleeping system, and maybe a headlamp.
Thank you for the quick response. My backpack would be part of my sleep system that would go under my feet. I guess I will just have to either pick one up at the ADZPCTKO or order online.
I'm talking about a partially loaded backpack minus your sleeping system.
If you use an emprty backpack under your legs, it will fit fine. There just no extra floor space beside or at either end for it to stand.
