What size needle and brand do you use for different UL fabric?
What thread do you use with the needle and fabric?
Thought this would be good to organize on one post thread and also I could use the information. I've found multiple places where people mention needle or thread, but not both.
Thanks!
Mar 28, 2011 at 8:40 am #1715919For most UL purposes(silnylon, grosgrain, etc) I just use a 14/90 needle with 100% poly Gutterman thread. Works like a charm on a 20 year old Singer.
Mar 28, 2011 at 8:53 am #1715924I use 80/11 needle and Gutterman
Thinner needle just so it makes a smaller hole for water to enter
Mar 28, 2011 at 5:24 pm #1716241I use near %100 coats and clark thread, both bonded and not.
I have an arsenal of needles, but often find a mid-width 17/135 is good for repairs.Mar 28, 2011 at 5:27 pm #1716246Ordinary poly Gutterman, and the smallest needle I can find locally…for my recent quilt project it was an 8/60 if I remember right, makes for tiny needle holes and NO down leakage.
