Neoprene for padding?

All of the neoprene that I've had my hands on has been substantially heavier than other foams, and I stopped right there.

I used the underside of a thin mousepad to line a hipbelt once. It gave some good grip but unfortunately did not breath very well at all. Like wearing a sweat belt.

The other day I was looking at my scrap of 1/16" Neoprene sheet I have for patching my wetsuits. A local wetsuit manufacture who now out of business now gave some scraps a long time ago when he made me a custom suit. I was thinking I could use my hole punch for grommets and cut breathing holes in it for shoulder and waist belt straps like osprey.
I was look at seattle fabric they have a land use neoprene I think it lighter weight because it does not have lycra front and back skin is what osprey uses.

I was looking at the my Osprey talon 22 it looks like the Osprey rubber they use on their shoulder and hipbelts has blown air added to the molding process of the Neoprene or rubber to make lighter weight and thicker. White color Volara is the lightest foam I know of but it squash down fast.

Their is some bodyboard foams used as cross linked poly olfin used in the skins but you now have to order rolls from china. I called some of the local body board manufacturing friends of mine the other day to see if I could gets some scraps. They don't give them out any more I use to use the scraps for bills on supplex nylon hats I made so it would float.
