Had to hunt down that Skurka route to see what you were talking about (I'm not really familiar with Google Earth, since about version 2)

This should clear it (by unselecting his route):

1. Click on View -> Show Sidebar
2. Under "Places" in the sidebar should be a folder called "Temporary Places", and in there is the Skurka route (the Iceland route was the only one I saw, and it was named "oli_v_ier-Island2008_…" yadda yadda"
3. Uncheck that *or* click the plus to expand the tree under it and uncheck Tracks – that'll leave the Waypoints for the route if you still wanted them active.

That was rushed, so if it doesn't make sense, feel free to ask any questions.

Edit: that's in version 6.0.1.2032, but it should be pretty much the same in your version.

Jason,
Already had deleted all references to the route, killed, and restarted GE.

The "Animation Bar", I believe it is called, is still there.
Or if it has another name, I'd like to know, so I can search and destroy.

Arg.

Edit: I found another route using that bar.
…….Route is gone and bar is Gone.

whew.

I don't know of a simple way, but this worked for me:

On the sidebar, under Places…

– drill down in the "oli_v_ier-Islande2008_(Nyidalur-Ingolfsskali)" folder to the last item, named "Path".

– select "Path", right-click and pick "Save Place As", change type to .kml and save somewhere you can find.

– uncheck the "oli_v_ier-Islande2008_(Nyidalur-Ingolfsskali)" place in layer so it no longer shows in google earth, close google earth and don't save if asked.

– open Google earth and open the .kml file you saved.

edit: My bad, i thought you wanted it out of the skurka route. Didn't realize it seems to be stuck on in google earth regardless of what you view.

I was in the process of creating a route to see if I could figure out how to manually turn that tour thing on/off, but the crash course in Google Earth is frustrating. Now I can give up and not feel bad. ;)

Great.
I wouldn't sleep well knowing you were burning the midnight oil to solve my problems.

Thanks for pointing the way.
