So I've been trying to decide on a bag and have found a few choices that interest me. They are listed below:

MH Phantom 32
WM Megalite
WM Caribou
MB SS UL #3
MB UL Sprial #3

The main question that I have, is how much to these compress down to? If anyone has pictures of the stuffed bags, that'd be of great help (with something else in the picture for perspective). Also, any thoughts abouta any of the bags would be greatly appreciated :)

Cheers,
J.Ho

Bulky packed size is something that has always concerned me. Don't have it be too bulky, don't compress it so much that the down is damaged. I find that stuff sacks included with WM bags don't over-compress compared to some other brands and are very close in size to specifications seen online. I always measure the dimensions of stuffed sleeping bags after receiving them and find that most are very close to spec. But, just because a bag comes with an xxxxs stuff sack does not mean you should always use it. The bags you are looking at will be compact enough for most purposes but you may consider just stuffing the bag inside your pack with a liner to fill up the pack some.

I don't have a large enough bag inventory to be able to show you straight comparisons of the bags you have narrowed your selection to, but I can give you photos of my WM Megalite and how I pack it. For size, I used my packed Campmor 20 degree down bag in it's provided stuff sack which measures 14" x 7" (my measurements), a packed NeoAir Regular (Mfg stuff sack) and a Jetboil PCS. The WM bag is packed in it's WM stuff sack in this first picture and measures about 14" x 6.75" so real close to the Campmor bag. The difference is that the WM bag isn't trying to pop out of its stuff sack and actually still have some compressibility. The Campmor stuff sack is more firm.

I don't use the WM stuff anymore and have disassembled a Granite Gear AirVent XS compression sack I had (since I don't need the compression part or the added weight of that portion as seen in the next pic.

GG sack

Which the WM bag is packed in the the final pic. It measures about 14" x 6.5", but you could scrunch it more if needed. I find that the GG sack fits better in the bottom of my bag (sideways) and provides some waterproofing for the WM.

HTH!
