I'm looking for a shoe that's light and comfortable, yet wont pound my feet down to the nub when doing some speed hiking. So there does need to be some padding in there. I read a few reviews and seems like these may fit the bill. Anyone have experience with these? I have some Salomon's already and have loved them. Never a blister no matter how many miles(I know, just jinxed myself). I know the Speed Lace system has it's issues. Any other recommendations? Thanks for the input!

After hemming and hawing, I recently purchased my second pair of Speedcross 2s. My first pair, purchased last spring and completely worn out by September (over 600 some odd miles), felt great and light and wonderful 90% of the time. The other 10% of the time, on wet rock, I grimaced at the purchase. The lugs and traction are solid in all conditions but wet rock — which apparently has to do with the size and spacing of the lugs.

I have tried several other Salomon trail runners in the interim, including XA 3D Pros and the new Crossmax Neutrals. I am back to the Speedcross 2s for weight, feel, support, and general fit. They keep my feet happy and blister free. I just brace myself for possible slick footing on wet rock (which other trail runners do quite fine on).

The other Salomon's I've had seemed a little lackluster on wet rocks too. Their sole material may be partly to blame, while I can definitely see the big lugs on the Speedcross's making it even worse. I wonder if there is a shoe that has light weight, comfort, AND solid traction?
