was just at MEC today, they have a new Travel Light Toploder, 9.5 oz, wide shoulder straps, silinylon w/ lid, they claim its 20L – looks more like 25-30L to me, oh, and its $26 CAD!
I think I have a new weekend pack!

Looks nice- I'm digging the tabs at the bottom and the price. I wonder if shipping to the US is still a lot?

Looking it over I think there may be 2-3oz more to cut – the waist-belt, and a carry handle of all things in the top pocket for when its stuffed(??).
Also the top pocket is double lined w/ silinylon, so defiantly a fair amount of further weight cutting on top of the 9.5oz weighed weight.

That's pretty impressive — coming from MEC. In my mind, MEC is even more traditional (mainstream) than REI…

I might be willing to ship a few to BPLers in the States, I think MEC charges about 20CAD in shipping to the states – a bit less then most US stores charge to ship to Canada.
I think what I really like about the pack is the wide shoulder straps (think 1.5in), I find they really make a difference.
BTW – the MEC Sili-Scout Tarp is $65 and the weight and about the same size as the ID Siltarp2.

@Robert – I came across the Verto pack while looking through the new Mountain Gear catalog. Gotta admit, my interest was piqued, especially with the light ice axe loops and loops available for a shock cord, etc. MEC for the win with the price tag, though. :)

Hi Guys

I've had the bag for a few weeks now. I've mostly used it for hauling clothing to the gym but I did take it on a Xcountry ski trip.

The bag seems to well built, very light, and best of all the straps are very comfortable. Additionally the thing foamie contours perfectly to my spine. I originally purchased it as a daypack for backpacking (overseas hosteling) .

Available for questions

Price tag sucks if your in the states. $20 or more to ship. at that point not much more for the Verto, and for almost the same weight, Way more features.
