I'm considering moving to Boston, MA. How is the kayaking (lakes and class 1-class 4 rivers), hiking and backpacking (mountains) in the immediate and nearby area of Boston?

New England is a small place. Within a 3 hour drive you can find yourself in the Adirondacks, Vermont, or New Hampshire. Lots to choose from!Mar 10, 2011 at 4:05 am #1706875Within three hours, coastal maine and the hudson valley are possibilities as well, and probably most of the catskills. I don't do much paddling but there's a lot of nice hiking available, for sure.
