Has anyone out there tried this new pad insert design?

I searched for reviews here but did not find one.

I have been looking at the Pitchpine for a summer bag and like that
I don't have to get a mummy pad to use it.

The bottom half of the bag from about the legs down has insulation on top and bottom,
so if you use a torso pad your legs have full insulation. The Pitchpine comes in at
1lb 2oz for 45 degree bag.

I haven't tried these yet but the redesign is interesting. I have the previous horse thief bag so I was comparing the old vs new. It is great that you can now use a full size instead of mummy pad with them. The only thing that I don't like is the increased weight. The new horse thief seems to be about 4 to 5 oz heavier than my existing bag. However, it seems that they do have more down now. In my opinion, this new design with down at the foot end on the underside almost removes the advantage of the previous system's reduced weight. Seems like they could have just attached straps instead of the sleeve to the bottom of the bag.

Has anyone added straps to their BA to use with a full size pad?

There are some great deals on the older style now. If straps would work my wife is handy with a sewing machine and needles.

Depends on how you sleep. If you mostly stay in one place, you should be fine. If you turn over many times during the night, like me, you could end up with the pad on top!
