Hello to all!
This is my first post, so let me begin by saying how much I have enjoyed perusing the BPL site, and the passion we all share.
My question is this; I am a big guy, 280#'s. Years ago, when I was an active runner, I was still on the big side, 200-220#'s. I mention this because I was very careful to purchase appropriate footwear. I understood the need for a duel density midsole with an appreciable amount of support, and purchase my running shoes accordingly. Back then the selection was limited, but none the less, I had several to choose from. From what I can tell, most if not all trail running shoes appear to suit the fitter, lighter person. I know if I get a trail shoe with a blown PU midsole, they will be shot within a few miles. So, do I need to just go with a lightweight hiking boot with a firm midsole, or are there some manufactures that make a trail running/hiking shoe for guys my size? While in REI today, I did see a couple of Solomon models that had a firm heal counter, but not sure if the mid-sole would be short lived. Any advice you could provide would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much!
Chris
