Primaloft described their Primaloft home product as loose clusters (ie like down clusters):

Does any MYOG person / small manufacturer wish to experiment with filling a down garment with this as opposed to real down.
For less-insulated garments, the overhead of the enclosing shell's weight probably dwarfs the extra weight of primaloft clusters needed (for same warmth as down), but owner hopefully gets a long lasting water resisting compressible syn garment:
If insulation is not wadding to start with, then it can't be pulled apart in use!!
