I found some organic merino interlock at http://www.jascofabrics.com. It’s not a synthetic blend, just 100% merino. I have purchased some swatches and it’s pretty nice… much like Icebreaker. It’s a little heavy, more like midweight type thermal material, but is nice and stretchy and very soft. Only downside is the hefty price tag.

You’re not kidding. $29/yd. The “midweight” label kind of ruins it for me as well. Thanks for the tip.

A bit off the beaten path, but REI currently has merino rectangular (sleeping) bagliners on sale for $45.00. The sale ends soon.

They don’t have them in the stores yet, but here in Japan MontBell is introducing a new line of merino wool underwear with a special stretch weaving process. Not sure about much more than that, but they look like something I want to buy. They should be in the stores some time next week.

It being my nature to be quantitative …

the REI merino wool bag liner is 28×78 inches and weighs 17 oz. The weight appears to include a drawstring and a snap but no zipper so it’s mostly fabric wt.

56 (2×28) by 78 is 3.37 sq yds and at 17oz that’d be 5oz/sqyd … well into the midweight range?

If that’s what you are looking for, it works out to be $13.35/sqyd

Wow Jim, You are cool! As yard goods go, it ‘seemed’ like a deal. Thanks for doing the math.
