Hi everyone, I'm new to the site and I looked in the search index and couldn't find much on where to buy patterns for outdoor shell jackets. Also where can you get patterns for backpacks?

Green Pepper patterns are sold by a couple of different places. I've used them.

Seattle fabrics have some that are outdoor oriented:
Seattle Fabric pattern selection
quest outfitters and outdoor wilderness fabrics both have patterns and good prices on materials. look for the plans for the original g-4 pack, i think they are still free some place.
here is a source for some "not so new" design ideas

packs quilts and tarps are all pretty easy to do without a pattern. for clothes i have used the green pepper patterns but i always make a test one on cheap fabric as the sizing almost always needs tweaking.

http://thegreenpepper.com/ also check their sales flyer for fabric bargains.
http://therainshed.com/ greenpepper and many other patterns, fabrics, etc.
http://thru-hiker.com/projects/ also check his kits; the best for fabrics for UL gear.

There's also this place. They seem to have the most modern, technical jackets I've found.
Here is a link to the patterns section of the Outdoor Wilderness Fabrics web site. They are also a good source for fabrics, straps, buckles, cord and all the stuff you need for making gear:

Also there are a couple FREE patterns on the Six Moons Designs web site for a bivy and a simple tarptent:

And on the Tarptent web site if you get an itch to make a shelter:

Good luck!
