Ryan, are we to assume that if there was no response to our email about the item we wanted and now the item is listed as sold , we are not the buyer? Just looking for clarification.

Tad, from above: If you sent a request in, but do not get a response, chances are you requested an item that was already spoken for. Due to the high volume of requests, I'm not able to reply to all emails unless your request is in line for a purchase. Thank you — RJ!

Ryan- I sent payment on the Hornet at ~ 7:30 AM MST, might want to check your paypal account, the notification may have been "ate" by your spam filter :)

I can get a transaction number if needed

thanks

Mike

Interesting. I also sent payment for one of the Osprey Hornets at 5:37 P.M. CST. Must be a delay?

maybe because they have more than one and the last one is SPF?

What is the spine/torso measurement of this pack, per Dan's way of measuring it?

PostedFeb 25, 2011 at 12:12 pm

Just got my Hornet 46 today. Thanks Ryan!

Not sure if I measure the same way but here is what I found: Measured from top edge of pack (not the lid but the backpanel) to the bottom and got 19" in length. Probably not the correct way but basically the backpanel of the Hornet 46 M/L is 19"

I also remember reading somewhere that the M/L was for torso length 19" or longer.

Hope that helps.

My prototype Hornet also measures 19" from the top of the yolk to the seam at the bottom where the red and black material meet. So you've probably got a "Hornet 42 L," like our prototypes, and not a true Hornet 46 L. It's still a sweet pack. Today, I'm working on a modification to replace the two delrin frame stays with an upside down U, using titanium rod. We'll see if this adds some increased load stability (it adds no weight), or if I just have too much time and titanium on my hands.

My "Hornet 46" says: "Hornet 46" — on the bag…. does the "Hornet 42" prototype say this?

Gary Dunckel BPL Member

Yes–"Hornet 46." But we were told by Ryan, and also by the Osprey guy, that they were in fact a bit smaller. They estimated the prototypes were perhaps 42 liters, not 46.

Hey Adam

I'm going to load mine up this weekend and see if it fits and feels good. I've got a freaky long torso for only being 5'11" so I'll let you know if it doesn't work for me.

PostedFeb 26, 2011 at 7:45 am

Question to the group: Does anyone happen to know the backpanel length of the final production version (not one of the prototypes) of the Hornet 46?

Brad Rogers BPL Member

How does McHale's frame length relate to torso length. I am assuming it probably wouldn't fit me as I have a bit of a long torso but I just thought I would ask.

Looking into the Hornet, stil says 'sale pending' so I'm wondering if there are any left? Please let me know

Cheers,
Jason
