My curiosity is doing me in about land’s end again. Last year I got one of their down jackets for work so I would quit using my backcountry gear, it may not be the lightest but oz. per dollar it was a really good value.
So I see they have a 29 dollar packable rain jacket and a 99 dollar goretex jacket, has anyone tried these or know what they weigh? I may call them up and ask.

I just had a look. I’m a Gortex junkie myself. The $99 goretex jacket they describe as ‘packable’ but don’t use the term ‘PacLite’ which is the lightest Gortex material. Maybe it is what they use though.
I have been eyeing off Cabela’s ‘PacLite’ jacket which sells for $79 (and up) but Cabela’s don’t tell you the weight either. I’ve emailed them and they might tell me.
They call it the ‘Rainy River Parka’.

I was pretty tempted to buy the Cabelas paclite jacket until I realized it had no pit zips. Seems to me to be pretty much a necessity unless you are just going to be using it for around town or day hiking.

Hi Thomas,
You can always add DIY pit zips or have them added for about $30. On a paclite jacket that inexpensive, it would be well worth it. I’m personally very interested in knowing the weight of that jacket. Also, whether they sell paclite pants.
