I'm looking at getting a new pair of shoes for trail running/hiking. I have a pair of inov-8 x-talon 212a and f-lite 230s, and I like both of them, but I am looking for something with a bit more cushion (for heel-striking when walking), a roomier toe-box, and more toe-protection on top. Durable would be nice also, I don't care about looking trashy, just the shoes still working after 500+ miles.

I'm considering these 3 shoes, all have a 'three arrow' midsole (vs the 2 arrow of the 212s and 230s) and inov-8's comfort last.
Roclite 295
flyroc 310
roclite 315

To anyone who has used some of these, how large is the difference between 2 and 3 arrow midsoles, and how large between the performance and comfort lasts? I think I'm also going to size up.

anything else, other brands, I should consider?

I trail run and hike mainly in 212's, but also have flyroc's. The flyroc's definitely have more cushion and way more toebox room, even more than the roclite line from what I could tell when trying them on in store.

The flyroc's also feel a bit heavy and boot-like to me. I will probably get roclite 295's when replacing them. Roclite's have the sticky rubber sole, which have much better grip in my opinion, but does wear faster than the sole on the flyroc's.

I have used the flyroc's when I'll have multiple days hiking in very rocky areas (summit hikes with lots of talus, etc.) and they are much easier on the feet in sharp rock than the 212's.
