How do you store/organizer your gear?

I have a clothesline where I hang things

These are guys who aren't pretending that it's not all about the gear. Especially funny is David Ure's comment about someone having four sleeping bags. You'll see why as you scroll down.

Scott, for my packs, ice axe, skis I have a hanging system that I bought at REI awhile back. As for all my other gear I have shelves with plastic containers drawers. I keep them seperated by item. Ie electronic items, water treatment etc. As for my clothes, my wife and I have two large bins that store our clothes. Of course sleeping bags are on a shelf in the cotton storage bags. Same goes for my tents, bear cans and sleeping pads

I'm fortunate to have a big walk-in closet in our bedroom. Not the sort of thing you usually find on a house built in 1919, so I'm happy to have it. I've got some shelves at the back, with a few sleeping bags in cotton sacks. Almost everything else is stored inside two packs- LW and UL stuff I use these days in the GG Nimbus Latitude and some of the heavier or winter-oriented stuff in an older GG Stratus Access FZ 4500.

I don't have much clothing dedicated to backpacking, most of it gets general use, but what there is is hanging up on hooks by the shelf.

The Thermarests are stored under the bed, uncompressed and valve open.

All of the car-camping stuff is in a single bin in the basement, so we can stick it in the car and head out for the weekend if we feel like it.

I have a basement shop/store room and I hang some stuff from an old pipe. I have stacking storage tubs under. One is labeled "Pack Ready" for all the stuff I normally take. Another has clothing, another has kitchen/hydration/containers/survival stuff. I use gallon ziplocks to keep like items together– one full of gloves or socks, etc. I have an old laundry basket full of recycled plastic containers. I use a plastic tool box for small stuff like knives, compass, headlamps, spare batteries and so on —- those small and precious things that disappear when you need them!

An old chest of drawers works great for organizing gear too.

Simple, I stuff everything in the pack then throw the pack in the trunk of my car, that way it's ready to go when I am.
