Golite is Boulder's North Face.
It's easily the most commonly worn outdoor brand. I'm aware that they're based here. I'm aware of their yearly garage sales in town.
But still… Their logo is EVERYWHERE.

Note to self: Vacation in Boulder during GoLite garage sale weekend.
Out of the 14 people in this coffee shop, seven have Golite logos currently visible.
On the web:
What are the dates for Golite Warehouse Sale 2011 ?

Golite is an institution in Boulder and you can see it everywhere during the year but especially right after the sale.
The next boulder sale will probably be in April but no date has been set, but you can probably expect it to be in the same location that the fall sale was.
its got nothing over dead bird in vancouver … lol
I proudly wear my old Montane windshirt here in Texas.
But really it's North Face in the big cities and Carhartt every where else down here.
Pretty large variety here in the SE but mostly the bigger brands. North Face, Marmot, Mountain Hardwear, with Patagonia and Arcteryx to a lesser degree. I'm not sure I've ever seen someone in town with Feathered Friends, Western, or Montbell (other than myself, my girlfriend, and UL friends).
Com'on down to Bedford, VA. The Carnhart capital of the Mid-Atlantic.
"If your jacket can't stand being drug behind a tractor down a dirt road for a mile, then it ain't a real jacket."
At the risk of sounding elitist, Go Lite isn't the only game in Boulder. MontBell's single US store is located here. We have a sweet and very green REI. And we might be the smallest U.S. city that has its own North Face store, where all the college girls buy their "church fleece" (a Denali that never, ever gets dirty). And don't forget McGuckin's Hardware, which stocks everything Carhardt. The downside is that we don't have a Trader Joe's…bummer.
prices are ridiculously low. i went in not planning on buying anything but found a nice down jacket for about %40 of retail and a synth for %30. Its hard to resist! Golite is not the lightest around but quality and design is good and besides boulderites need nice techy looking gear for walking to the coffee shop and hiking mt. sanitas every now and then. i'd say the pat down sweater is the defacto outdoorsy looking garment around here, then golite, and mb is gaining!
Hmmm. I have a daughter who lives in Boulder. Will have to coordinate more trips to see her.
Jack do you know for certain if those sale dates are correct? I've been wanting to make a trip back to Colorado…and if I could hit the sale at the same time, that'd be sweet.
I think if I lived there I would spend most of my time between GoLite, Montbell, the Avery taproom and Neptune. Personally I wouldn't mind seeing more GoLite around where I live because all I am seeing is the crappy The North Face fleeces that everyone buys. The only people who buy Carhardt are the ones in an outdoor trade.
Not too much Golite around here.
We're in the heart of Patagonia territory. Patagonia is based in Ventura which is the next town down the road. Pretty much everyone around here wears Patagonia. Though we don't have the amazing warehouse sales that Go Lite does…
I wear Carhart jeans because I like them for their durability but I also began to like them to wear when visiting my daughter at her Hollywood home. (shamless name-dropping here)
When we go to uber trendy "The Grove" shopping center or stroll on Larchmont St. I feel that small Carhart "C" on the right hip pocket sends a message to the "far too cool" crowd of poseurs in their overpriced Calvins, RL, and Lucky brand jeans. That message is, "Who gives a d@mn?".

Hey! I wear Calvins and Lucky Jeans! I buy them at Ross for $20…. I picked some Earl jeans up there too. I've never heard of them and didn't bother to look them up but the original tag had them priced around $200! I paid $22 IIRC.
I was unaware there was a Montbell store up there. I must now figure out how to get there with lots of spare cash.
I know Golite has warehouse sales in Boulder. Do they also have a regular retail store open through the year?
Jim
No, Go Lite doesn't have an outlet store in Boulder. Just their semi-annual sales.
We have a Patagonia outlet in Santa Cruz, so everybody gets Patagonia dirt cheap and wears it everywhere. They have killer sales too twice a year.
the fact that there is no store is partly what makes the sale so popular (besides prices).there is a sense of urgency–never seen coloradons move so frantically outside of a triathalon or I 70 on a ski weekend.
the montbell store isso badass.
there is all sorts of ingenious UL stuff you didnt know you needed or that they made, but that you must have.
I'm wearing my surplus wool pants I bought at the Army-Navy store in Boulder. Has a label inside… (in French I believe). Wearing Wigwam ragg wool socks bought at McGucks as well..
:)
You busking on Pearl or something Mags? ;)
Alas, I have no musical talent (though that does not stop most of the street buskers!)
I had just arrived back from a quick overnight to Arestua Hut. Tend to go partially old-school functional with my ski clothing.
I forgot my memory card (doh!) but the views towards James Peak were phenomenal. The snow was awful though…
Naturally, when I have to work, the snow will be great. :)
You should just post up at the Southern Sun so you can bounce from the bar to Neptune.
Nicholas,
You say Ventura is the "next town down the road"…as a native Santa Barbaran, sounds like you're in SB??
