That's what I like to hear! Thanks guys. ;)

I'm sure we'll hear from it's new owner soon, but lets just say, I was inspired to make one for myself.

    Ken,

All of my quilts (other than the production Cyanocittas at: http://www.titaniumgoat.com/Cyanocitta.html) are custom. Designed and sized to an individual's needs, target specs, etc., therefore, the prices vary quite a bit.

    This one wasn't cheap.

Sorry to be vague, but I'm not trying to get embroiled in a "value" debate. It was very pricey. I believe the person I made it for feels it was worth it, I'm willing to invest the significant time to make one for myself, because I agree, and as overworked as I am atm, my time is worth way more than the price I charged.

I'm not really taking orders right now, but if you've got something specific in mind, I might be persuaded. I can be contacted at [email protected], or via PM.

    Thanks!

Thanks, Javan. It was just a curiosity. I'm not in the market for something like that just yet… As far as my base weight goes, I've got some pretty big fish to fry, and not much money for butter and fixin's. Hopefully the raw materials that go into something like that will drop in cost between now and when I'm ready to make that leap.

I gotta say that's pretty sweet. I wouldn't mind toying around with that.

    Nice!

Why do you use Cuben at the top? I believe that's the top baffle.

My assumption would be to reduce the chance of moisture entering the quilt from exhalation.

i am familiar with that pretty white fabric but what is that opaque black stuff? why would anyone make a quilt (or topbag in this case) from that stuff? crazy!

    Tim. ;)

Thanks everyone! Also yes, the top strip in cuben is to keep from soaking out the upper with your breath.

"Thanks everyone! Also yes, the top strip in cuben is to keep from soaking out the upper with your breath."

It sounds like someone has spent cold nights in their quilt, with breath condensation getting their quilt wet.

One question I have, is does different fabric condense more than other fabric?

Even with the Cuben strip, it'll get wet, drip down, and get whatever's below wet, which eventually get's back to whatever I'm wearing.

I have been experimenting with different fabrics:

    Slippery ripstop condenses a lot

Fleece condenses less, but partly it's just that the water gets trapped in the fleece rather than dripping down.

Supplex nylon seems to condense much less, but I'm waiting for some colder nights to do a better test. Something about the fibers on the surface or the DWR coating.

I wonder how eVent would work because it has such a good DWR coating.
