I know the proposed R value of the Torsolite is much higher than the Prolite 3. But I have read some reviews of the Torsolite being cold around freezing. What do people think who are using them. Is the Torsolite really warmer than a Prolite?

the R value may be higher, but for me the TL vs. the PL is all about surface area. since the TL has a significantly smaller surface area than the PL, it is, frankly, a colder pad due to the edges being much closer to your body. i can do fine with that in warmer temps. perhaps if you cut the PL down to the same dimensions as the TL, the TL might be the warmer of the two. dunno, haven’t done this. i like my TL on its own in warmer conditions, but if i know it’s going to get as far down as 35 i want something else, or perhaps a combination.

bear in mind as you read this that i am a cold sleeper. if you’re not, my comments aren’t worth much to you i’m sure.
