You could delegate to google but still have the google search widget on your pages. It’s like the regular google advanced search but with the domain pre-specified as the forums. Might be able to use http://www.backpackinglight.com/cgi-bin/backpackinglight/forums/

If not, maybe change it to forums.backpackinglight.com

Here is a Google Custom Search Engine for searching the forums:

So BPL folks, try adding this to the forums:

Paul-As a test I did a search based on “Richard Nisley” using your custom Google search; it listed 23 entries.

I did the same search using the Search Forums option; it listed 14 entries.

I referenced the same posting information by looking at my BPL personal profile; it listed 129 entries.

Paul-I also tried a search for Primaloft. Using the custom Google = 14 entries and Forum Search = 164 entries.

I have been using the google advanced search but this seems to do about the same, doing a search restricted to http://www.backpackinglight.com/cgi-bin/backpackinglight/forums/

Just tried and got 24 with Advanced search.

Are all those 129 entries still in existence or did they get um, archived?

Names might be a little tricky, could be that the Search Forums option has some smarts to eliminate duplicates or whatnot. How were the result qualities?
