Seems I remember seeing China but my memory isn't always the best.

The standard gray sil Solos and Duos I believe are outsourced to China, however all of the custom colored models are USA made, in Fletcher NC, by Judy in her sewing studio.

The up charge is very nomal and fair IMHO. So if country of manufacture is a concern for you, there's a good option. She has some really nice color choices.

I was at So Ruck thus weekend where judy had her tents on hand. Her new LightHeart Awning Tent is awesome. The room inside for a solo tent is massive, room for me, all my gear and my dog and all at only 1 lb 12 oz including the awning that you con cook under.

Javan is right, the 'standard gray' solo's and all the Duo's are made in China. I tried to find a company here in the US to manufacture them, but it would have cost me 3 times as much to have them made and I don't think anyone would want to pay that price for a tent. I contracted with an American Company, they outsourced them (with my permission) to China. They have a long history of working with this factory and knew the quality was impeccable.

All of the Cuben tents, all of the custom solo's the colored ones, the awning tents etc I personally sew, with 100% made in America fabrics, I live in North Carolina, and sew them all myself in my studio. My husband / business partner does the seam sealing when requested.

I do not sew the duo's (though I have made several of them) because the sewing is a bit trickier, and I don't have all the necessary equipment to do them right.
The tents that come from China have a higher waterproof rating than the fabric that is available in the US. I am working on importing some of the fabric, but that is a ways off still.

I can modify the duo, and the gray China solo's to convert them to an awning tent, I think I posted some pix somewhere here on BPL of what the 'Wedge" is like. I sew a wedge shape piece of silnylon to one side of the fly and it then zips to the other side allowing you to set up the fly in an awning configuration. It really provides a large awning under which to cook, stow gear, etc. If you want to close up the tent, you unzip the wedge and then zip the fly back as normal. I'm waiting for the snow to melt and the ground to dry up some so I can get good pictures of this outside. I can put one or two wedges in the duo, and one in the solos.

For the Solo's that I make, I just changed the fly into an awning. The options here are to have one door and the awning, or 2 doors, awning on one side and regular fly (that zips open and closed) on the other. These can also be configured to what I call a 'right hand' or 'left hand' door – so as you are facing the tent, if you are left handed, you probably want the door at your left hand. The standard way I have it configured is for right handed people.

This photo shows and awning tent, with 2 doors, the back door is open and the fly is open, the other side the awning is up and the door is closed. Part of the customization is getting the color (S) you want in a tent! If you really want just one door, but want to be able to stick your boots out the back window under the vestibule, just let me know and I can put in a smaller zipper so you can open it enough to reach out.

While the silnylon from China is more waterproof, no one has complained about the custom tents misting or leaking. The prototype awning tent I sent out to Mark Verber to take a look at had NOT been seam sealed, he had it out for 4 days of rain and had very little water in the tent.
