Hello to everyone… just posted on my blog a video review of the new Thermarest Neoair Trekker sleeping pad that I got in the mail from UPS this morning. I hope that this helps those that are looking for information on it. I could not find anything. But I found that http://www.campmor.com is selling them. $119 for regular size 20″ x 72″ at 20 oz of weight. The material is seriously strong. I have had problems with punctures on my original Neoair and this is what I am choosing for my AT thru-hike starting in March 2011.

thanks for the video, has thermarest posted any r-value for the trekker- is it the same?

I can see where this would be appealing for a thru hike, other options for 6 extra ounces- a person could add a 3/8" thinlight (of course you'd be adding considerable volume) and additional r value and protection if placed under- or save 4 oz and add a 1/8" thinlight

@Juston – thanks… I am like that… I try to see life like an excited kid. It helps me cope :).

@Mike
Moore – the R-value is 2.0 and it is on the box that I showed in the video. I did that with my waterproof Motorola Defy android phone. That was the first video I did with it… so I hope it all came out good. That was my choice for the camera on the AT next year.

I have to admit that there is a correction that I have to state. I have a MEDIUM neoair yellow. So for those that don’t know it is 66″ long and weighs 13 oz. I had stated in the video that it was 72″ regular, but actually it was not. I will update the video with a caption now.

Also please do stop by the blog and check out the HI res photos that I just posted.

whoops- missed it :)

interesting on the r value-appears the reflective stuff was more than just marketing hype as it evidently adds 0.5 r value, not a lot- but ballpark the equivalent of adding a 1/8" thinlight :)

Thanks for the review.

I have a regular Neoair and carry the patch kit (~1oz) in my first-aid/gear repair bag. So, about 14.2 oz for an R value of 2.5 that works down to freezing for me.

In the video you show how the Trekker fabric is heavier and not as "crunchy" as the regular Neoair. Can you make any in use comparisons to how loud rolling around on a trekker is compared to a Neoair? I am always kinda paranoid about waking other people up in shelters with it.

Thank you for sharing your review. I have been wondering about the treker model. Great video and thanks again.

Thanks.
One major improvement that i see is that they now make a "Large Torso" version!!!!
25' wide X 48" long.

I have been waiting for someone to come up with a wider torso pad. 20" wide doesn't work for me. I'm not a big guy and I don't know how bigger people keep their whole body, including arms, on a 20" pad.
