Anyone ever used the Norrøna Bitihorn Aero 60 jacket? A bit heavy compared to the Houdini, but only a little heavier than the Montane Lite-Speed. Also appealing to me, as it comes in XXL unlike, it seems, a lot of the other light windshirts.

Got one from Backcountry for 50% off at $50. I think it arrived today, but I’ve not been home yet so I haven’t been able to take a look.

The Arc’teryx Squamish looks interesting too. but I’m not real keen on spending $150 on a light windshirt.

Just wonder if anyone has tried the Norrøna, or have another idea for a lightish windshirt in XXL? Thanks!

Aaron,

I got one (an XL) at the backcountry.com sale too, and I've been very pleased with it as a windstopper.

Good to hear. Took a look at it today, seems like it'll work well. It is a bit tight, but I'd been expecting that. The good news, at least for me, is that it isn't tight in the shoulders or chest, which is the problem I've had with Rab. The cut of the Aero 60 seems more like the more slim/athletic cuts of the NA brands- room in the shoulders and arms and fitted in the mid and lower torso.

Can't wait to give it a try on some hikes next week, to see if it blocks wind enough for winter hikes.

Might have to do a WTB on the Arc'teryx Squamish if it doesn't work out.

I should mention that Norrona garments run true to size. The Bitihorn and a discontinued softshell I bought in my standard XL and both fit great, despite my long arms and torso. When I bought a WPB shell I sized up to XXL, as I thought it might go over several layers. Bigger but exactly what I expected (and wanted).

Haven't used the Bitihorn all that much but the other two have been terrific – generally athletic fit and superb workmanship.
