I’m looking for a longer hem (enough length to fully cover one’s crotch in the front and butt in the back) fully featured (pit zips and at least 1 chest pocket and if possible hand pockets) rain shell. Breathable material and as light a weight as possible (under 15 ounces and if possible 13 or under).
I’m finding many of today’s rain shells are just cut too short, which is fine when you are walking around town, not fine when it’s raining on the trail and you’d like to avoid putting on rain pants (or didn’t bring). For example, Patagonia’s old Supercell jacket was long, providing full crotch coverage in the front; today’s replacement, the Rain Dance, is at least 3-4 inches shorter.
I’m 6 ft tall 180 lbs, typically wear a size large shell.
I’d sincerely appreciate any suggestions, as long as the products are jackets and not ponchos or dual use tarps (nothing against, just not my preference).
