I'm in the market for a sleeping bag for me lady. She doesn't like to go camping much and refuses to let me spend more than $300 on a bag. The reason she doesn't like to come backpacking with me in norcal is because of the cold. She's 5'7" so i think a reg bag is in order. Looking for a great 10Ëš-15Ëš bag that could be had on sale, new or in great condition for around that price. THanks

I am looking for input, not so much asking for a sale, where should i start looking?

and en-rated for women bag … or if yr going by manuf ratings … something thats 10F warmer

most manuf rate even their womens bags to mens temps … marketing tricks …

for example the "The Women's Helium adds insulation where women need it most for warmth down to 15°" is really a 29F bag for women ,,,

Hi Sean, you might want to check out the Marmot Pinnacle, a little more weight than the Helium, but more more down, a collar, and a lower EN rating, 21.6 for women. Can be had for less than $300, maybe alot less if you wait until after Christmas. I'm guessing she will have along a puffy jacket and other layers if you're expecting temps in the teens, so maybe this will be warm enough?

The Marmot 650 fill down bags are really warm (and well constructed) for a budget bag. They take up a couple of more inches of room in your pack, but only weigh a few ounces more – many times for significantly less money than their 850-900 fill counterparts. I think I paid around $180 for their 15 degree version with a full length zip last year at REI as part of their X-mass sale.

Only downside was that the nylon was not DWR, but if you are using a tent, it doesn't matter and the shell breathes slightly better without the DWR so the down gets less moisture buildup.

Marmot is sized a bit roomy – which is good for wearing a jacket inside it on extra cold nights.

Even further down the line- the Angel Fire. My wife has one and stays toasty in it on a neoair and snow. Prob 20 deg? she was wearing base and mid layer top, light fleece pants, no hat. Says she was toasty $150 I think.

Just looked: EN is 14deg F (26W) and cost was $210 on Marmotdot com
